My name is Tiffany and I want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through the Bible chronologically.

Together, we will explore God's sovereign plan as the events of Scripture unfold and point to Jesus.

Hey, you're in the Bible family. Welcome back to our journey from Eden to Eternity.

Tiffany here and today we study three more Proverbs.

Yesterday, we discussed that Proverbs, chapters 25 through 29, were actually compiled by King Hezekiah around 200 years after Solomon's reign.

Solomon was the author of these Proverbs and we can clearly see the similarities and style from his previous Proverbs.

And as we did a couple weeks ago with the many Proverbs we studied, today we will pull out the major themes we see across these three chapters.

There is one Proverb in particular that we will read today that helps set the tone not only for today but even throughout our journey.

Proverbs 29-18 says, without revelation people run wild but one who follows divine instruction will be happy.

Our happiness is found in the wisdom of the God who created us.

These Proverbs aren't a list of don'ts but wisdom filled truths that lead to abundant life as we follow the Lord.

So let's take a look at how we should behave where friends and wealth are concerned.

First, we want to talk about friendship. During the course of our journey we've witnessed several beautiful friendships, Moses and Aaron, Naomi and Ruth, David and Jonathan.

And as we walk through the Bible we will see other friendships like Elijah and Elisha and Paul and Timothy.

Friendship is a sweet gift and several times in Proverbs 27 Solomon mentions his purpose.

Proverbs 27-6 says, the wounds of a friend are trustworthy but the kisses of an enemy are excessive.

Proverbs 27-9 says, oil and incense bring joy to the heart and the sweetness of a friend is better than self-counsel.

And lastly, Proverbs 27-10 says, don't abandon your friend or your father's friend.

These Proverbs teach us that a true friend helps us grow through kind and loving correction.

2:44.0

Their honest counsel brings us joy like a sweet perfume.
