to some very specific questions from the Pharisees, a rich young man, and the disciples.

In each interaction, we will be reminded that Jesus is ushering in the Kingdom of Heaven.

The first question for Jesus comes from the Pharisees.

First, they are trying to trap Jesus into misinterpreting the law.

And second, during the first century, the Pharisees allowed a man to divorce his wife for any

reason, from serious reasons like infidelity to petty reasons like failing to do household

chores in an acceptable manner.

These men took great liberties with the interpretation of Deuteronomy 24.

Divorce was not a command in the law, but a permission in very specific cases.
