We are currently walking through the book of Jeremiah, and today we come to chapters 23-25.

While Jeremiah will continue to pronounce judgment on Judah, we will also get glimpses

of Jesus and a foreshadowing of the new covenant.

We ended yesterday with a quick overview of the various demises of the final four kings

of Judah.

Their reigns were evil, and they led the people to worship idols.

As chapter 23 begins, God says that the shepherds have failed.

These shepherds are the leaders of the people, the kings, elders, priests, and prophets.

Though these evil shepherds will be scattered like the flock they scattered because of their

poor leadership, God makes a beautiful promise together a remnant of his flock.

He will bring the back to their land one day and give them good shepherds to lead them.

We will see this partially fulfilled in Ezra and Nehemiah when the exiles return to Jerusalem.
