Yesterday, we started the book of Exodus.

We learned about the two overarching themes of the book, God's promises and God's presence.

We also learned about the Israelites' bondage.

We met Moses and we ended our time on Mount Horib with Moses before the burning bush.

So it's in this scene that we will start again today.

Chapter four begins with Moses' response to God.

After all God had said to Moses, his first response was to question and doubt.

That should sound fairly familiar, both from all we've studied so far and on a personal

So often, even when we know the truths of God's Word and His promises, we still question

and we still come up with excuses just as Moses did.

His first excuse was the doubt of the Israelites' people.

What if they didn't believe Moses had really heard from the Lord?

His second excuse was his lack of eloquence to speak to the people on the Lord's behalf.
