Today, we read some of the most popular chapters in the Book of Exodus.

Chapter 7-9 procured the account of the first seven plagues on Egypt.

I don't know about you, but every time I come to these chapters, I realize how much Hollywood

has tried to influence our understanding of this period of history.

And while I'm sure there were some true cinematic qualities to these plagues, we often

forget that it wasn't about the plagues.

It was about our God who controlled each and every aspect of them.

So let's strip away what the movies have told us and remember what these plagues actually

teach us about God.

We enter Chapter 6 with a familiar complaint from Moses.

Once again, he tells the Lord he is a poor speaker when God asks him to go to Pharaoh.

But in Chapter 7, I love how God doesn't even address Moses' complaint and just tells

And in verse 1, the Lord makes an interesting statement.
