Summary

Just before midnight, on September 11, 2001, a man was gunned down on a street in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. His name was Henryk Siwiak. Despite the best efforts of a police department spread thin by a large-scale terrorist attack, the killer was never apprehended, and the case remains open to this day.

0:18.0	It's 852 here in New York. I'm Brian Dumbled. We understand that there has been a plane crash on the southern tip of Manhattan.
0:25.0	You're looking at the World Trade Center. We understand that a plane has crashed into the World Trade Center.
0:31.0	20 years ago, on September 11, 2001, terrorists carried out an attack on New York City.
0:43.0	Two passenger planes, within 18 minutes of each other, smashing into the World Trade Center's Dr. Jay.
0:50.0	First responders rushed to the Twin Towers. Downtown Manhattan quickly became a war zone.
0:56.0	This is as close as we can get to the base of the World Trade Center. You can see the firemen assembled here, the police officers, FBI agents, and you can see the two towers.
1:04.0	A huge explosion now raining debris on all of us. We better get out of the way.
1:10.0	One hour and 42 minutes after the first plane hit, both towers were going.
1:16.0	The tower is literally crumbling into the streets of Manhattan there.
1:21.0	110 stories tall, two towers built in 1973, and they have now both come down after this terror.
1:30.0	We advise you to find your family, make sure that everyone's safe, get together, and just stay out of the streets at this point until we get a chance to sense it.
1:42.0	That evening as broadcast is recycled today's events, most New Yorkers retreated indoors and checked in with their loved ones.
1:49.0	More than 2700 people died from terrorism in Lower Manhattan that day.
1:54.0	412 victims were first responders, including 23 of NYPD's own.
2:01.0	Later that night, on a street in Bedstuy, Brooklyn, one person died of a gunshot wound.
2:07.0	His name was Henrik Shivyek. To this day, his murder remains unsolved.
