0:25.2	Hey, friends, Tiffany here. Welcome back to the podcast. Today, we come to a pivotal point in Judah's history as they face a fierce foe.
0:37.3	Their brothers in the Northern Kingdom of Israel have been
0:39.9	conquered by Assyria, and this dominant world power now sets their sights on Hezekiah's kingdom.
0:47.9	Though Assyria doesn't realize it, God is in complete control, and Judah can trust in his hand of protection. And so can we, friends.
0:57.5	So let's get started. When you first looked at our reading list today, it might have seemed like a lot.
1:04.3	But as you read, I hope you realized there is quite a bit of overlap in the chapter from Second Chronicles, Second Kings, and Isaiah.
1:14.3	Second Chronicles 32 serves as our outline for both today and tomorrow as we unpack the various
1:22.0	events mentioned there. Second Kings and Isaiah 36 give us additional information concerning Assyria's attempted invasion and the arrogant spokesman from Assyria.
1:37.2	2 Chronicles 32 begins by telling us that even though Hezekiah was fateful in his deeds before the Lord, a siege from Assyria still came.
1:48.8	Hezekiah had the people prepare by stopping up the springs, fortifying walls and cities,
1:56.0	and making weapons and shields. But, more importantly, he echoed the words of Moses and Joshua and told the
2:04.9	people to be strong and courageous. He reminds the people that Assyria is only filled with human
2:12.6	strength, but they have the Lord who fights their battles.
2:25.1	Something for us to note is a warning that we read back in Hosea 814 a couple of days ago.
2:33.9	Though Hosea prophesied to the Northern Kingdom primarily, there were several short prophecies directed to Judah.
2:38.8	In chapter 8 verse 14, he warns Judah when he says,
2:43.6	Israel has forgotten his maker and built palaces.
2:48.5	Judah has also multiplied fortified cities.
