I can't believe we've made it to the final week of our chronological journey from Eden to

eternity. God has been so gracious and faithful as we've studied his word this year.

Let's finish strong this last week and rejoice in how far he's brought us. Today we begin the book of First John.

The Apostle John likely wrote this epistle while living and ministering in Ephesus. This book doesn't have the same markers of a

letter like Paul's epistles do with a typical greeting,

Thanksgiving, and farewell. But this epistle was circulated like a letter to the churches in the first century.

First John reads more like a sermon, but personable and loving,

as John teaches believers how to guard against false teachers and encourages sanctification.

Similar to his gospel, John continues to focus on the themes of love and light. He will use terms like
