Hey friends! Welcome back to our year in the Bible journey from Eden to eternity.

Tiffany here, and today we head back to First Chronicles and take a look at chapters 3 through 6.

You might wonder what on earth we are going to talk about when these chapters are filled with genealogies.

But by now, you have learned that I am a fan of genealogies and what they teach us.

Not just about the rest of Scripture, but also about God and His plan of redemption.

Today is no different. There is still much to learn and chat through.

So let's talk about the structure of these chapters as we begin.

When we looked at the contextual info for Chronicles a couple of days ago,

we established that the Chronicleer, or author of First and Second Chronicles,

recorded the history of these two books to encourage those returning from exile.

Now it might seem odd that we're talking about these books now,

when they were written for people who aren't even born yet in this part of our journey.

But we want to remember that we are walking through the events of the Bible this year,

and not the order in which the books were written.

We also talked about how the genealogies listed in the first nine chapters

could have been split up into smaller sections and spread across many months of our reading plan.

But as much as we want to follow the chronological order of Scripture this year,

we also don't want it to get so confusing that we lose the importance of the overarching themes.
