| 0:59.0 | So let's talk about the structure of these chapters as we begin. |
| 1:03.0 | When we looked at the contextual info for Chronicles a couple of days ago, |
| 1:08.0 | we established that the Chronicleer, or author of First and Second Chronicles, |
| 1:13.0 | recorded the history of these two books to encourage those returning from exile. |
| 1:19.0 | Now it might seem odd that we're talking about these books now, |
| 1:22.0 | when they were written for people who aren't even born yet in this part of our journey. |
| 1:27.0 | But we want to remember that we are walking through the events of the Bible this year, |
| 1:32.0 | and not the order in which the books were written. |
| 1:36.0 | We also talked about how the genealogies listed in the first nine chapters |
| 1:42.0 | could have been split up into smaller sections and spread across many months of our reading plan. |
| 1:47.0 | But as much as we want to follow the chronological order of Scripture this year, |
| 1:52.0 | we also don't want it to get so confusing that we lose the importance of the overarching themes. |
