| 0:28.0 | Tiffany here. Today, we are back in the Psalms as we take a look at some of the Psalms written by ASAP. |
| 0:36.0 | Yesterday, we studied 1 Chronicles 6, where we read the names of the Levites who were pointed as musicians. |
| 0:45.0 | ASAP's Psalms, similar to the sons of Korah, were written for corporate singing. |
| 0:52.0 | But, though the community sang them together, each Psalm encourages the right conduct and praise of the individual as well. |
| 1:01.0 | As we look at ASAP's Psalms, we will also note their prophetic quality as they point our hearts toward Christ. |
| 1:09.0 | Today, we will look at three different types of Psalms, wisdom, lament, and historical. |
| 1:16.0 | And in each one, we will be reminded of God's character and see glimpses of Christ. |
| 1:23.0 | We start today with Psalm 73. This was known as a wisdom Psalm. |
| 1:29.0 | It begins by stating the truth. God is good to Israel and to the pure and heart. |
| 1:36.0 | But then, the Psalm turns as the Psalmist and all those who sing it realize that they are in danger of going astray |
| 1:45.0 | because they see the wicked continually prosper. |
| 1:49.0 | In verses 4 through 12, we read in what ways the wicked prosper. |
| 1:55.0 | The Psalmist says they have it easy, they are well-fed, they are wealthy, and their pride is rewarded. |
| 2:04.0 | In essence, if they prosper so, why not join them? |
| 2:09.0 | Does this sound at all familiar to us in the 21st century today? |
| 2:14.0 | We still see the wicked prosper, even today, and we can be tempted to think that the grass is greener on their side of the fence. |
| 2:23.0 | But as we continue to read, we see how this complaint against the wicked turns to one of understanding and heart change in light of God's presence. |
