0:41.4	This week we're going to be, as far as I know, we're going to be concluding our catch-up on the Richard Allen trial and the Delphi case.
0:49.0	Over the last two weeks, you guys heard Andrea Burkhard, both first in episode 18, 3, talking about the trial. And then in 184, last week you guys heard Andrea Burkhard, both first in episode 183, talking about the trial, and then in 184.
0:57.3	Last week, you guys heard her discussing the post-conviction process. There's really focused a lot on the
1:02.6	law and appeals and the post-conviction proceeding. And this week, we're joined again by attorney
1:08.3	Michael Osberg, who was with us just a few weeks ago. Michael has
1:12.7	some direct connection to this case and is joining us today to talk about more of the,
1:17.7	I guess the way I think about it based on our conversations, what I saw in the chat when I was
1:21.7	with Andrew is more of kind of the practical side of the case, more from an almost an investigative
1:27.3	standpoint and some of the case more from an almost an investigative standpoint and some some of
1:28.9	the legal hurdles as well michael has been uh very much into a lot of the investigation and
1:36.1	and a lot of the details that have come out since since the trial so first of all i want to welcome
1:40.6	michael and michael can you talk about what is how how much have you been connected with Richard Allen's case from the trial and post-conviction?
1:48.0	So I got involved in this case pretty accidentally. I wasn't paying much attention to Delphi until the lawyers were removed. Now, the lawyers were there as public defenders. And I was a board member of the Indiana Public Defender Counsel, and it was a five-alarm fire.
2:02.8	The lawyers, after they were removed, filed appearances to show up pro bono as Rick's
2:09.1	counsel of choice. So in addition to the public defense hook, there's a constitutional right to
2:15.6	counsel of choice. So I was immediately looking at
2:20.7	habeas things. It's a federal right. And I think that had the lawyers stayed removed, there was
2:27.3	going to be a federal case. Then when the lawyers got put back, prosecutor filed a contempt
2:33.7	information against both the lawyers.
2:36.5	And in addition to being the world's expert on Indiana midwifery law, that's obviously
2:44.5	incredibly important.
