So if you've been following me for any length of time, you know that I've had quite the personal

0:15.3

drama with fruit trees. I tried to grow them more conventionally and then I gave up and through some tantrums

0:23.5

and decided it wasn't possible in Wyoming. And then I very happily discovered that I actually

0:30.3

can grow fruit trees. I had a interview with, I think it was Bob Osborne is his name. He was a

0:35.9

couple of years ago here on the podcast. And he opened my eyes on that episode. You can kind of hear it in my voice. If you go back

0:41.0

and listen to it, I was like, oh my gosh, this is possible for me. But he was talking about cold,

0:44.6

hearty apples. And that discussion with Bob led me on this awesome rabbit trail down the world

0:50.4

of cold, hearty fruit. And so I now know that I can grow fruit trees in Wyoming

0:54.9

with some considerations. And that led me to a company that I've been ordering from consistently

0:59.3

for a couple of years now. So you may have heard you mentioned St. Lawrence Nurseries. They are

1:03.6

actually based in New York State, which is opposite from Wyoming in terms of location as you can

1:09.0

get. But the cool thing is, is they are a similar

1:12.1

climate, believe it or not, and they know their stuff when it comes to helping folks grow fruit

1:16.8

and berries, and I think even nuts in not tropical climates. So I've been wanting to have them

1:22.1

on the show for a while because I know many of you are in the same boat. You want to grow more

1:25.9

than your vegetables. You want to really expand into orchards or berries and you're not sure if it's possible. So Connor and

1:32.0

Alyssa are the owners of St. Lawrence, which is an organic nursery in Potsdam, New York. I'm

1:37.4

not sure if I'm saying that right. Am I saying it right? Yeah. Pastaam. Okay. So they have

1:42.0

cold hearty fruit and nut trees, a whole bunch of berries, all sorts of native plants.

1:45.7

The business is over 100 years old.

1:47.7

And they are the third non-family generation of owners.

1:50.7

So it's super cool.
