If we thought the race for the yellow jersey was over this time yesterday, well it certainly

0:16.8

is tonight, isn't it? Jonas Vingigore has put the Maya Jean beyond out and as we sit

0:22.5

here with the sun setting behind the mountains and the air gradually going cool, it feels

0:28.0

like the day is pretty much guaranteed to clinch his second consecutive Tour de France

0:34.4

in Paris on Sunday. We will talk all about that in this episode of the Cycling Podcast

0:39.0

from the Tour de France. It was stage 17 today. My name is Lionel Bernie and again I'm with

0:43.9

Richard Abraham, whose work you may well have seen in Ruler and other places. Welcome Richard,

0:49.6

your first kind of proper day back on the Tour de France. I know I say that yesterday you were here

really high up, 2,000 metres, 2,300 or something on the top and it's just the Tour de France.

1:10.3

1:15.0

fighting it out, lots of fans on the roadside, helicopters in the sky like it's huge crowds as well

1:21.1

which we will talk about a little bit later. I should set the scene. We are here surrounded by

1:25.3

the mountains and camper vans are parked in the car park, Tour de France fans and Richard has

1:30.5

got some kind of flying insect on his forehead there. Oh, I think it got away, I think it got away.

1:35.8

We are sitting at the bottom of a little ski lift which in the winter time will take people up

1:40.5

to come down this. Quite a gentle run, isn't it? I think I've got some chances. Green or blue,

1:45.9

maybe blue in places. Not very steep. I could cope with that. I could cope with that. I'm

1:51.8

no skier, I should say. Well, let's get on with the business of the day because it was a dramatic

1:56.4

stage. It's time for the tail of the attack. Stage 17 from Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc to Cauchervais,
