redemption and we want to spend five minutes every day journeying through the Bible from start to finish, and exploring how all of it

points to Jesus. Hey everybody welcome back to year and the Bible with Daily Grace. My name is

Alexa and today we finished our study of the book of Sakariah by looking

at Sakariahth through 14. In Zakurai 11

God calls Sakurai to be a shepherd for the flock of Israel. However he will be a

shepherd doomed to receive rejection. As a shepherd, Zakiraya seeks to guide and lead the people of Israel with favor and unity, and he removes other disobedient leaders.

But the Israelis reject his leadership and Zakirai grows impatient with them, causing

him to reside from his leadership and leaving Israel to fend for themselves.

Without a leader, Israel struggles to have protection and unity.

Israel is then handed over to a foolish shepherd that fails to take care of the flock.

Yet God is gracious to bring justice for Israel by punishing the shepherd for his foolishness.

God continues to show His grace in chapter 12.

He promises to strengthen both Judah and Jerusalem preventing other nations from

attacking and hurting them. God also promises to pour out his mercy and

grace upon Israel and the people will be led to repentance.

In Chapter 13, God continues to form Israel into a united nation by removing all of the

idols from the land.

He also speaks about a shepherd that he will raise up who will receive judgment and punishment through death, but not because of his sin, but because of the sin of others.

This shepherd's death will cause God's people to scatter and experience a time of difficult

trials, but God will use these trials to test and refine his people.
