Grace, fam. Welcome back to the Bible in a year

podcast of Daily Grace. My name is Miranda Ewing, and I will be your

host for the short book of Malachai and I want to say a quick

congratulations you have almost completed the entire Old Testament what an Praise the Lord for all that he has shown

you so far in his word and for giving you the endurance and perseverance to stay committed

to reading it. Malachai, in a sentence, is God's final word to his people,

before a period of 400 years of silence. It's his last call for them to return to their covenant with him and to be faithful.

And it contains a promise and a warning for what is to come.

God's people had not had the easiest time over the last few centuries.

After the reign of Solomon, the Kingdom of Israel was split in two,

the Northern Kingdom and the Southern Kingdom.

The Northern Kingdom still the Southern Kingdom. The Northern Kingdom still went by the name of Israel,

but the Southern Kingdom went by the name of Judah. All of Israel's kings were wicked,

and Judah had a mix of both good and bad kings.

Things got even worse as the people in both kingdoms began to go astray from the Lord's

commands.

They chased after foreign gods and acted just like the nations that surrounded them.

And though God sent profit after profit to warn them, the majority of Israel and Judah did not repent.

Both nations were judged by the Lord for their disobedience. They were conquered by
