Welcome to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace. The Bible tells one big story of redemption,

0:09.1

and we want to spend five minutes every day journeying through the Bible from start to

0:14.3

finish and exploring how all of it points to Jesus.

0:22.5

Hey guys, welcome back to the year in the Bible with Daily Grace podcast. My name is

0:27.3

Kristen, and today we're talking about numbers 25 through 27. And in today's chapters,

0:33.7

we pick up with some sad news. The people started worshiping the bail of pure. They were

0:41.0

uniting themselves with the daughters of Moab with women who worshipped false gods, and

0:46.9

eventually the men of Israel started worshipping them too. And this rebellion made God man.

0:53.6

There was a plague because of their disobedience, but the plague stopped when one of the priests

0:58.7

who was zealous for the Lord turned back God's wrath. And then in chapter 26, God told Moses

1:07.1

to take a census of this new generation. And in this chapter, we're reminded that though

1:13.0

the people have been in the wilderness for 40 years, God still allowed them to be fruitful

1:19.6

and to multiply. And then continuing on to chapter 27, Joshua was affirmed as the next

1:25.9

leader of the people. He was given authority before the Israelites by Moses, and he was raised

1:32.2

up to lead the people into the promised land. Okay, so a big picture within these chapters,

1:37.3

again, we see a lot of failure. Though the Lord had shown his people such amazing mercy

1:45.4

and kindness, he had shown his goodness and his holiness. They forgot. They started worshiping

1:53.1

other gods. And we're reminded that we all do this. We all sin and fall short of the glory of

1:59.5

God. We're not good enough to find God on our own. We need a perfect leader, one who will never

2:07.1

fail. We need Christ. He is our perfect priest. He is the one who is zealous for the Lord's

2:15.3

glory. He is our leader, the one who is given all authority on heaven and earth. Though we continually

2:22.4

disobey God, Jesus never disobeyed. He lived perfectly. And he died the death that we deserve.
