Hey guys, welcome back to the year in the Bible with Daily Grace Podcast. I'm Kristen

and we are continuing to work through the book of numbers today with numbers 28 through 30.

So in today's chapters, the Lord spoke to Moses and told him about the festivals and the sacrifices

that the people were to do. Now, notice there might be a lot of specific commands here down to the

tenths of the fine flower for the grain offering and the numbers of rams offered per day.

And this shows us that God is not vague or distant. He's near to his people. He's told them

how to worship him. And as a little bit of a side note here, I actually read in one commentary

that because God asked the people to sacrifice so many animals, this shows that he was bringing them

to an abundant land, one overflowing with milk and honey where the offerings and animals would be

provided for them. God is the one who provides abundantly for his people and these chapters point

to a sign of his provision. Then in chapter 30, Moses gave the people instructions about vows.

God always keeps his promises and he wants his people to keep their vows to him.

So he gave the people specific instructions about vows and how vows could be nullified.

And I know you might read these chapters and feel uneasy or offended.

The Bible is basically saying that if a married woman or a woman living with her dad made a vow

and her husband or her father let her keep it then she could, but if they opposed it,

then she wasn't responsible for her vow. And I don't know about you, but I think that can

easily rub against our modern ears. We might say that's not fair. A woman should be able to make

whatever vows she wants before the Lord, but before we are offended too much about the role
