0:28.6	Shelby Turner. I'm one of your hosts for this podcast and today we are continuing to read through the book of
0:34.8	Matthew. Chapter 7 through 9 cover a lot of good stuff and I can't wait to get into it
0:41.1	with you. Chapter 7 is the conclusion of the sermon on the mound
0:45.2	that began in Chapter 5.
0:47.6	Jesus talks about judging others, prayer,
0:50.6	in the golden rule, and then his tone changes quite a bit.
0:55.0	He ends the sermon by asking one question in three different ways.
0:59.7	The question is, are you for me or are you against me? Those with Jesus will be like a tree bearing good fruit.
1:08.3	They will enter the kingdom of heaven and their foundation will be secure through the storms of life.
1:15.1	It was a thought-provoking challenge to those listening and it should be to us too as we're reading it.
1:21.3	And then Jesus begins to minister in a different way. Chapters 8 and 9 are all
1:26.3	about Jesus working miraculously in the lives of broken, sick, and the demon possessed
1:31.6	people that he encounters.
1:33.8	These aren't just miracles.
1:35.8	This is Jesus showing us what the world looks like when he is in control.
1:41.7	In this section, Jesus does nine miracles. One he heals a leper, two he
1:47.6	heals the centurion's servant. Three he heals Peter's mother-in-law and many other sick and demon possessed.
1:55.0	Then Matthew interjects the miracles to remind us of the cost of following Jesus.
2:02.0	Following Jesus is more than just riding this wave of miracles.
