| 0:00.0 | Welcome to a year in the Bible with daily grace. The Bible tells one big story of |
| 0:07.0 | redemption and we want to spend five minutes every day journeying through the Bible from start to finish, and exploring how all of it |
| 0:16.8 | points to Jesus. Hi friends and welcome back to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace. My name is |
| 0:28.0 | Shelby Turner. I'm one of your hosts for this podcast and today we are |
| 0:31.7 | continuing to read through the book of Matthew with |
| 0:33.7 | chapters 10 through 12. We're approaching the halfway point in Matthew which is |
| 0:38.1 | awesome. Today we're going to see Jesus make some big statements that can be a |

| 1:00.6 | fact he tells them that they're going to be hated. And there's a popular passage in chapter 10, |
| 1:06.9 | verse 30 that God has numbered the hairs on our head. You may have heard this verse before. |
| 1:12.3 | This verse was meant as a |
| 1:14.2 | reassurance to the disciples that when they experienced hatred and persecution |
| 1:19.0 | that God cared and God knew what was going on in their lives, even when they are despised and rejected. |
| 1:27.7 | I just love what that context brings to that verse. |
| 1:31.8 | He concludes his commission of the disciples with a very compelling |
| 1:35.1 | phrase. He says anyone who loses his life because of me will find it. Jesus's |
| 1:41.0 | way is upside down and following him doesn't always look the way that we think it will, |
| 1:46.5 | and we see this play out with John the Baptist in Chapter 11. |
