Hey everybody, welcome back to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace. My name is Jenny,

and today we are talking about Joshua 19 through 21.

We are nearing the end of Joshua. Though Joshua is full of battles as the Israelites take

the Promised Land, it also presents a beautiful haven of God's fulfilled promises.

Up to this point, we can see God's faithfulness in many ways, but cannot yet see how He will

deliver the Israelites to the Promised Land. Truthfully, sometimes it feels as if the Israelites

will never get there, but here in Joshua, we see that God is faithful to deliver on his

promises, and in some ways it is tempting to just sit here for a bit and take in the goodness

of God. More than delivering on his promises, we also see how God provides a refuge for

his people. And so in Joshua 20 verse 6, we see God set up a way to ensure that people

who accidentally killed someone are able to receive a fair trial. It is extraordinary

to see the lengths God goes to ensure justice is served, even during times that we consider

to be largely unruly.

The end of chapter 21 gives a beautiful picture of the Israelites resting in all that God

has given them. We all have an idea of this feeling. There is nothing better than resting

after a day of hard work. You might sit in a park or in your backyard as you peacefully

watch the sunset with someone you love, but either way, there is something special about

resting after a day of working hard. That is a very small idea of the rest the Israelites
