Welcome to a year in the Bible with daily grace. The Bible tells one big story of

redemption and we want to spend five minutes every day journeying through the Bible from start to finish, and exploring how all of it

points to Jesus. Hi everyone welcome back to a year in the Bible with daily grace. My name is

Ali and I am one of the hosts of the podcast. Today we will be in John chapters 4 through 6. In the last episode we jumped into the first

three chapters of the book of John and were reminded that God has existed always from before time began.

He was and is and always will be.

He is the light in our darkness and when he comes to dwell in us as we trust in him as our

Savior his light changes us from the inside out in these first, many come to know Jesus and follow him. This includes his disciples. As chapter 3 wrapped up, we read of Nicodemus and Jesus explaining to him the idea of being born again as new creations in Christ.

So moving forward in the book, while Chapter 3 told us of Nicodemus, a religious figure, we come to Chapter 4 of John and read about the Samaritan woman.

Jesus shared truth with both of these people.

A man well known in the religious community and a woman

who would not have been respected in that time. And yet we see Jesus reach out to her, tell her that he is the Messiah.

This would have been a taboo in biblical times, not only because she is a woman, but she is

a Samaritan and is poor. Jews despised Samaritans.

To both individuals, Jesus reveals the truth of salvation.

And what this shows us about the Lord is that he desires to bring the truth of the Gospel

to all nations, all of his creation, to all people.

The rich and the poor men and women, those who are outcast and those

who are accepted and respected in the community. As we continue reading, Jesus reveals his travels. He heals many people and becomes more and more known by the masses.

Many come to know him. At one point he says that God is his father and many Jews are so outraged by the statement and the idea that this man is claiming that he is the Christ, they don't believe it.

It angers them that he would make such claims.

How sad it is that God in the flesh stood before them and they did not recognize him.
