points to Jesus. Hey friends, welcome back to another episode of a year in the Bible with

Daily Grace. This is Stephanie and today we are going through

Jeremiah's 46 through 48. These chapters go over God's judgment of the Egyptians, the Philistines, and the Moabites.

Just a note,

Scholars believe Jeremiah received these judgments for the nations at different times.

However, they were placed back to back in the Book of Jeremiah in chapters 46 through 51.

Remember back in chapter 25 where God sent Jeremiah to different nations

and made them drink the cup of God's wrath? God's wrath is his judgment and we are

getting the details for some of those nations in these chapters.

So chapter 46 focuses on the Egyptians.

Yesterday we read how the remnant disobey God by running off to Egypt.

In turn, God tells them that Egypt will be overtaken by the Babylonians.

God was going to use King Nebuchinezer as his instrument of judgment.

We read about this judgment today. If you look at history, this really

did happen. Babylon did indeed overtake Egyptian territory around 600 to 605 BC. We read in this chapter that Jeremiah prophesied Egypt's downfall.

Egypt is warned of its impending defeat and the destruction was indeed devastating.

The judgment we read about is severe, but it's only a shadow of the

judgment to come when Jesus returns, once and for all to destroy evil. We will read

more about this in revelation. But let's not forget the hope that God's people have.

God's people were promised to liverance. In verse 28, we read that God will not make a full end of his people. Discipline will be given.
