Daily Grace. This is Stephanie and today we are going through

Jeremiah chapters 22 through 24.

Chapter 22 begins with Jeremiah's ninth message.

Jeremiah gives a direct message to the King of Judah and to the House of David.

Jeremiah tells them to administer justice and righteousness,

rescue the oppressed, refrain from exploiting foreigners and the fatherless and the widow and don't shed innocent blood.

Israel was to put God's justice and righteousness on display.

But instead, they chose injustice and idolatry.

Again, we're told this.

There are blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience.

If the king was faithful to God's commands, the throne of David would continue to be filled with kings.

But if not, the house would be a ruin.

So because they disobeyed, the line of David would experience exile and hardship.

Then the chapter addresses the different kings of Judah.

Shalom was King Jehoahas and he was the son of Josiah.

Unlike Josiah, Shalom was a bad king and were told he would die in exile.

1:40.4

Jehoekim was another one of Josiah's sons and he was also a bad king.

1:45.4

Unlike his dad who upheld justice and righteousness, he did the opposite.

1:50.5

He would be killed in one of Babylon's sieges.
