Hey, hey, everybody. Welcome back to another episode of a year in the Bible with

Daily Grace. This is Stephanie, your host through the Book of

Jeremiah, and today we are going through chapters

1920 and 21. In chapter 19 we read how God directed Jeremiah to gather the elders and

priests to the Ben Hinnam Valley, which was known as a place for

worship to the false god Molok.

There Jeremiah gives them this prophecy. Disaster is coming and it will be great.

And the reason is because God's people have abandoned him and worshipped idols,

even sacrificing their children to these false gods.

Jeremiah was instructed to take a clay jar and smash it to pieces.

This was a tangible demonstration of the destruction to come to Judah. In chapter 20, we read how the

priest, Pashir, heard Jeremiah's prophecy and he didn't like it. He ordered that Jeremiah be seriously beaten and publicly humiliated with the

intent of discrediting his message. But when Jeremiah is released,

Jeremiah gives pressure a message with even more specificity.

Destruction is coming from Babylon.

Pashir and his family will be taken captive by the Babylonians and they, along with the other false prophets, will

be killed in that foreign nation.
