points to Jesus. Hi Daily Grace, Mamly. Welcome to our Year in the Bible Podcast. My name is

Tiffany and I'm so glad you were here. Today, let's talk through Isaiah chapter 7 through 9. As we dive into these

chapters let's define a couple of words to help us in our study. As we read these

chapters we will see the names Ephraum and Samaria quite a bit.

These names are used interchangeably to talk about Israel. Let's keep in mind that the original nation of Israel

split after King Solomon's death and ten tribes became the Northern Kingdom known as Israel and the And the

remaining two tribes became the southern kingdom known as Jura.

Israel's capital was Samaria, and one of the tribes of the Northern Kingdom was Ephraim.

Thus, Israel was often referred to as either Samaria or Ephraim. We will see this in our reading today as well.

Chapter 7 begins with a brief history lesson to set the stage for us.

It can be tempting to skim through these types of verses, but let me caution you to

slow down as they give us a frame of reference and help us understand what is happening within this time

period.

As we mentioned, the nation of Israel split after King Solomon's reign, and quite often the

Northern Kingdom and Southern Kingdom were rivals. In this chapter of Isaiah we read

about King Ahas who was one of Judah's evil kings. Judah was facing an attack from Israel and another neighboring nation known as

Aram. Despite his evil reign, the Lord spoke to Ahaz through Isaiah and told him not to fear.

Verse 7 says, it will not occur.

When God says it won't happen, we know we can trust. It won't happen. We also read that both

Aram and Ephraim, also known as Israel, will fall.
