Isaiah is filled with so many truths and as students of the Bible we want to take the time to

unpack them and understand all of the visions and messages God gave to his people through

the prophet isia. messages God gave to his people through the Prophet Isaiah.

Yesterday we ended on a high as we read a song of praise and worship in chapter 12.

Today we take a look at Isaiah chapter 13 through 15 where judgment is pronounced on

several nations but for those who are in Christ we can look at these chapters with hope and celebrate the sovereignty of God.

Let's dive into Chapter 13. Now, I know many people aren't necessarily history fans,

but for this chapter, it helps if we have a little bit of historical context in our back pocket.

Chapter 13 is a prophecy against the nation of Babylon.

Isaiah, on behalf of God, is predicting the demise of the nation of Babylon

almost 200 years before it would occur.

At the time of this prophecy, Assyria was the world superpower.

Babylon was just a small city nation under a Syrian rule.

But God controls the rise and fall of every nation and leader,

and he knew Babylon would be the tool he used

to bring discipline to the people of Judah, and he would later punish

this nation for its evil wickedness, pride, and arrogance.
