Welcome back to a year in the Bible of Daily Grace. My name is Joanna Kimberl and I am

your host through the book of Genesis. Now just a reminder that we actually have a four-part

study called the story of redemption available at the Daily Grace.com that follows the exact

same schedule that we are following together on the podcast. So that's a great way to

go deeper. Today we're talking about Genesis 7 through 9. So at this point Noah has completed

the ark that God told him to build. The people on the earth were so wicked, so sinful,

so violent and twisted that God was planning to send a flood to wipe out all living things

from the earth. But God promised to save Noah and his family, and in that way he would

continue on his promise to send an offspring who would save God's people from sin.

So now the time has come for Noah to get in the boat. God tells him it's time to hop inside

and bring a bunch of animals with him, two of every unclean animal and seven of every

clean animal to repopulate the earth after the flood. God never planned for this story

to end with destruction, but with new life. Noah did everything God commanded him and

God himself sealed them inside the boat. Talk about a guarantee of safety. Everyone was

in the boat and then the waters came. Now this was no ordinary rain. Waters burst forth

from every place that waters were stored. The text says the floodgates and the sky were

opened and waters came pouring down and the watery depths burst open. Water surged 20 feet

above the tops of the mountains. Can you imagine Noah and his family inside of the dark

ark being tossed around with the sound of water pounding against the sides of the boat?
