Welcome back to the Year in the Bible Podcast with Daily Grace. My name is

Kristen and today we're talking about Amos 4 through 6. And as we read today's

chapters we continue to see a lot about God's judgment for the people.

They had disregarded God's word and they had become religious hypocrites.

They had become wealthy,

but instead of looking after God's interests,

they started looking after their own.

And God says in the second half of Chapter 4,

that he even allowed bad things to happen so that they would turn back

so that they would repent but they didn't. And even when God withheld rain or struck them with locusts, they didn't return to him.

And if we remember back to Deuteronomy 28, we see that this is all a part of the covenant

promises.

And so Israel should have understood what was happening

and repented, but their hearts were hard and sadly they didn't. And so then in chapter

5, the judgment continues, but God calls his people to seek him and live.

We see that in verse 4 and 6 and 14.

But instead the people are trampling on the poor, they're taking bribes, they're pursuing evil.

And God told his people, I hate, first of all, just to pause for a second with what strong language.
