points to Jesus. Hi friends welcome back to a year in the Bible with daily grace. My name is

Shelby Turner. I'm one of your hosts for this podcast and today we are going to talk about acts 7 through 9 and

just like the rest of the book of acts it is full of signs, wonders, and miracles

that Jesus does through the Apostles and the Holy Spirit in order to build his church.

In chapter six we left off with one of the disciples, Stephen, in custody and falsely accused

of speaking against the temple and the law.

Chapter 7 is Stephen's response.

It is the longest speech in all of acts,

and in it he details the history of the patriarchs of the faith. He shows in this speech over and over again how God's people

have rejected God's prophets and Jesus. Then he tells those who arrested him that they, not him, are the ones who are rejecting the one true God.

This enrages his captors and they drag him out of the city to stone him.

In that moment Stephen is filled with the whole and they drag him out of the city to stone him.

In that moment Stephen is filled with the Holy Spirit.

He looks up to heaven and sees Jesus at the right hand of God.

And with his dying breath, he asked God to forgive his killers.

This is something that Jesus also prayed to his father at the time of his death.

At the very end of this chapter we meet a man named Saul

who is present at the stoning of Stephen and

is leading the charge against the persecution of the Apostles. Chapter 8
