after his ascension, through the apostles and the Holy Spirit.

And today we're going to see Jesus do a lot.

Chapter 4 begins with Peter and John being arrested by temple leaders for

healing a man.

And we will see this dichotomy a lot in acts. Temple leaders are going to respond

with persecution and threats to the miracles being done. While many other people are going

to respond by believing in Jesus.

In this chapter we learn that the church now numbers around 5,000 people.

When this all started in Acts Chapter 1, it started with about 120 people.

The temple leaders ordered the apostles to stop preaching about Jesus.

They do not want to see the church grow any further. But the Apostles can't do this, and empowered

by the Holy Spirit, they keep proclaiming the Gospel despite the threats that they're receiving. They pray

for boldness and God answers. They are
