redemption and we want to spend five minutes every day journeying through the Bible from start to finish, and exploring how all of it

points to Jesus. Hi friends and welcome back to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace. My name is

Shelby Turner. I'm one of your hosts for this podcast and today we're going to

begin the book of acts. If you haven't yet, go check out

my intro video for this book on our Daily Grace podcast Instagram account. There I'll

share some important background information to help you put this book in the correct context.

But to put it simply, acts as a book all about the acts that Jesus does after his ascension.

It's written by Luke and was written as a follow-up to the book of Luke, the gospel of Luke.

Luke is about what Jesus did while he was bodily present on the earth in acts is about what Jesus

did through the apostles and the Holy Spirit after his ascension. Let's watch how this plays out.

And chapter one we're briefly told about the 40 days Jesus spends with the

Apostles after his resurrection. He taught them about the kingdom of God, proved

his resurrection in many different ways, and told them to remain in Jerusalem to wait for the

promise the Holy Spirit. Then he commissioned them as his witnesses in Jerusalem,

Judea, in Samaria, in the ends of the earth, and then he ascends to heaven.

The apostles, they wait in Jerusalem, and they prayed together, and they're waiting for the

promise to arrive.

They also chose Matthias to replace Judas as an apostle.

Now they did this in kind of a curious way

by casting lots or basically rolling a dice to see who the
