points to Jesus. Hey everybody. Welcome back to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace. My name is

Alexa and today we are going to look at 2nd Peter together. Peter starts off in chapter 1 by reminding these believers how God has

given them everything they need to live golly lives. Peter encourages these Christians to continue

to grow in their godliness as a rest in the power of God

that works within them. He reminds them to keep growing equality such as goodness,

knowledge, faith, and self-control.

Peter writes how if these Christians continue to grow on these qualities,

they will stand firm in their faith and will be kept from stumbling.

Peter also reminds these believers about the trustworthiness of God's word.

He writes how he was an eyewitness to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The eyewitness account of Peter as well as other disciples reveals how his words and testimony can be trusted.

Peter also writes how prophecies throughout scripture can be trusted.

He affirms how there is no prophecy in scripture that came from human interpretation because it was a spirit of God who gave the

prophets the words to speak. We can see why Peter brings up prophets as we look at

Chapter 2. He writes how just as there were false prophets among the people in the past,

they were false teachers among them now.

Peter warns these Christians to watch out for these teachers who teach heresy, or teaching

that doesn't align with the word of God.

He goes on to say how these teachers will receive severe judgment for their wicked ways.

God sees the wickedness of their hearts and they will receive punishment of Christ's returns.
