All right, let's get into today's reading.

Chapter 4 begins with a very important principle about testing spirits to see if they are from God.

Now this sounds kind of mystical, but really what John is saying is when someone is speaking

or teaching on behalf of God,

we shouldn't just automatically believe what they say,

because some people are false prophets and they are not teaching the truth,

but they're being inspired by the spirit of the

Antichrist and not by God. So we should test what people are saying

according to scripture. Do they proclaim Christ? Do they say that Jesus is

God, that he died and rose again, and that he is the only way to a relationship
