As frustrations grow over the war in Ukraine, the White House is hitting Russia's two largest oil companies with sanctions.

For weeks, President Donald Trump signaled he could impose penalties against Moscow for continuing the war.

But this is the first time he's acted on those threats.

In a statement, Treasury Secretary Scott Besant says it's, quote, time to stop the killing

and for an immediate ceasefire.

And yesterday's announcement came as Trump said he'd canceled an anticipated meeting with

Russian President

Vladimir Putin.

It didn't feel like we were going to get to the place we have to get, so I canceled it,

but we'll do it in the future.

The sanctions hit Rosneft and Lukewell, and almost three dozen of their subsidiaries.

To San Francisco now, where the city's mayor and California's governor are getting ready to respond to an anticipated federal crackdown.

A source tells CNN that federal immigration agents are expected to arrive in the San Francisco area as early as today,

deepening the rift between state and federal authorities over enforcement in Democratic-led cities.

San Francisco's mayor, Daniel Lorry, announced comprehensive preparations by city agencies,

and the city attorney who's, quote, equipped to take necessary legal action.

And in a post on X, Governor Gavin Newsom vowed to sue the Trump administration over any deployments.

It's one of the safest large cities in this country that's experienced an economic rebirth and

Meanwhile, a district court judge has extended an order blocking the deployment of National Guard
