October 23rd. We start with the U.S. sanctioning Russia's two largest oil companies, as Washington

calls on Moscow to agree to an immediate ceasefire in its war with Ukraine. It's a change of

But it's also led to a sharp rise in global prices, with traders worrying about

supply. In Washington, Senate Republican leaders are still looking for more ways to pressure Democrats

to end the three-week stalemate over government funding. Today, they'll push for a vote that would

pay essential workers. This includes U.S. military, border patrol, and TSA, and the funds would come

from the Treasury Department. Democrats continue to draw a red line against voting to reopen

the government until a plan is in place to extend enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies.

Still, Democrats are expected to reject the measure, as they've said they'll oppose any bill that does not pay all federal workers.
