The death of a public figure, Yevgeny Pregozion is dead, says Moscow. I go to London for

competing headlines. The jet crash victims who died alongside Pregozion, including his

deputies, his senior deputies of the Wagner Group, and then Russia blames Ukraine for

plane crash that killed Wagner chiefs, and then Pregozion killed in a plane crash, says

Russia as allies point finger at Putin. That's enough to understand that the day after

an event that is at this point confirmed but not confirmed confirmed confirmed. There

is dispute in London as to who benefits, who did this, who brought down a private aircraft

between Moscow and Petersburg in such a spectacular fashion that we have video taken as the plane

descended into a field and was smashed into many pieces. I welcome Anatol Leven of the

Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, who's guided me through this intricate situation

of Ukraine war, and now we have what appears to be an accident, a murder, an assassination,

When we all learn at the moment that Pregozion's plane had gone down, what were your first

thoughts about who was responsible, or do you hold back after all these years of reporting

mysteries? Good evening to you. Hello, John. Well, when I learned that it had come down

between Moscow and Petersburg, I immediately thought this is an assassination, or did

either by Putin himself, or less probably by Pregozion's bitter enemies in the Russian

defense ministry, it's stretching credibility to believe that this was an accident at this

particular moment, and it doesn't seem at all likely that Ukraine would be able to identify

and bring down a private plane that deep within Russia, unless, of course, somebody in Russia

would tip Ukraine off about it, which I suppose is just remotely conceivable, but if so, that
