Good evening from New York, I'm Jen Psaki and for Chris Hayes.

As we await the next steps from special counsel Jack Smith's investigation into January 6th,

one of the big lingering questions, which we might learn more about if there's an indictment

tomorrow or in the coming days, is what exactly did Trump's former chief of staff Mark Meadows

tell them?

Here's what we know.

We know he met with the grand jury, but we don't know what he said.

We don't know what he told them.

And he's also been pretty quiet lately, almost suspiciously quiet.

And that has been raising some questions among Trump's inner circle that Meadows may have

flipped.

Today NBC News caught this video of him.

Have you testified before the grand jury?

All right, you know, I don't talk about anything, they say to you, what do you feel like

it's appropriate the investigation?

So he does not say anything about January 6th to reporters, but he did meet with the

grand jury.

You could conceivably watch that video and see a former White House chief of staff who

simply does not want to speak with a reporter.

That's pretty common.

But today, Republican presidential candidate and former federal prosecutor Chris Christie

offered a different interpretation of it when speaking with Andrea Mitchell.
