The past 12 hours have been an extraordinary reminder of just how much legal peril Donald

Trump is facing. With all eyes on Washington, right beneath all of our noses,

the real action it turns out was unfolding in Florida. This evening, Donald Trump was hit with

additional charges in Jack Smith's other investigation into the ex-presidents'

mishandling of highly-sensitive classified documents. In case you're having trouble keeping track of

Trump's various legal entanglements, we are going to bring you along on that journey over the

next hour. But the ex-president, as a reminder, was charged with 37 counts related to the stolen

documents just last month. Remember, it was detailed in the indictment exactly what those

documents were. According to the indictment, Trump engaged in a month's long plot to hide

the documents. You're seeing some of the places. Remember some bathrooms with gold ornaments.

And he was keeping them from federal investigators who wanted them back,

along with his co-defendant, a former White House valet named Walt Nada. But then tonight,

at around 6 p.m., just two hours ago, we got an updated superseding indictment with new

charges and a new defendant. Trump now faces three new charges of willful retention of national

defense information and obstruction. On top of those new charges for the ex-president,

a third man now joins Trump and Walt Nada as a defendant in the documents case,

a Marolago maintenance worker named Carlos de Oliveira. He faces multiple charges,

including obstruction and lying to the FBI. And the details in this indictment are very

specific. They have audio recordings. De Oliveira reportedly helped not move boxes of classified
