all still on indictment watch in Special Counsel Jack Smith's investigation into the effort to

steal the 2020 election. So the grand jury was expected to meet again in Washington DC today,

but as we learned this afternoon, they didn't. The next time they're scheduled to meet is Thursday,

and there are new developments in the Special Counsel investigation. We're going to tell you about

shortly, but the Jack Smith investigation is not the only one coming in for a landing. There's

another one you got to know some more details on. Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fanny

Willis is preparing to bring charges as soon as next week in her parallel investigation into

election interference in that state. And today Hugo Lowell reports in the Guardian that the

District Attorney is weighing, quote, several potential statutes under which to charge,

including solicitation to commit election fraud and conspiracy to commit election fraud.

As Lowell notes in the same piece, this move to identify a list of potential charges

suggest prosecutors are on course, basically moving closer to an indictment. I should know what

NBC News has not independently confirmed this report. We also saw a new court filing from District

Attorney Willis today, who is fighting an effort to unseal the Special Grand Juries report on this

investigation. She basically doesn't want the public digging around that information before she

brings an indictment. Arguing that the report must, quote, remain for the District Attorney's

eyes only, at least until final charging decisions have been made. Much more in those

looming indictments in Georgia coming up later in the show. And as we await the special counsel's

likely second indictment of Donald Trump on a federal level, we are also continuing to learn
