Hello, and welcome to another edition of the Byron York Show, the no-chit-chat podcast.

We'd like to get right into it, and what we're going to get into today is Mitt Romney

and talk about treason, actually pretty ugly talk about treason.

You may have seen this.

It's one thing for the usual suspects in the sort of over-the-top commentary that makes

up so much of our discussion of public events.

It's one thing for the usual suspects, like Keith Obermann or the cast of the view or

the Lincoln Project or other people like that.

It's one thing for them to call their fellow Americans traitors.

It happens sometimes.

They are not known for thoughtful, measured opinion, but it is a different thing for a

United States senator and a former presidential candidate, the former standard bearer of his

party, known for his careful approach to political issues, to throw around accusations of treason.

And yet that is exactly what Mitt Romney, the Republican senator from Utah, has done

in his attack on Tulsi Gabbard, the former Democratic member of the House and one-time

Democratic presidential candidate.

That's exactly what he's done in this attack on Tulsi Gabbard.

And the fact that a man of Romney's position and his influence is engaging in such rhetoric

will surely give others the belief that they have the license to do it too.

He will have a bad effect on an already difficult conversation.

Okay.
