Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible,

chapter by chapter, book by book.

On the past couple of Searchlight programs, we've been looking at God's purpose and plan for Israel.

This is found in Romans 9, 10, and 11.

This section of Scripture comes right after the Apostle Paul spent eight chapters

talking about God's promises to us who are saved.

The reason that Paul is talking about Israel here is that God made many promises to Israel,

and now with the birth of the church, many are thinking that God's promises to Israel are now

null and void. And Paul is making a very strong case that this is not true. God will keep his

promises to Israel and to us. As we join our teaching in progress today,

we are talking about the sovereignty of God. With our study, here now is Pastor John.

Verse 16, so then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but God shows mercy.

He just pardoned him sovereignly. He just chose to

forgive these carnal, vile, sinning people. Just pardoned him. Why? He says, I will have mercy on whom
