Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, book by book.

On our last Searchlight program, we began a very important study of Romans chapters 9, 10, and 11. This section of

scripture deals with Israel, their past, present, and future. Some say that this section of

scripture is out of place in the book of Romans, that it doesn't fit in with Paul's wonderful

teaching on salvation, but it fits in perfectly.

In the first eight chapters of Romans, Paul is telling us about the wonders of the salvation that we have in God,

and he is telling us of God's promise never to leave us and always to love us.

But some misunderstood God's plan for Israel and presumed that God was forsaking his promises

to Israel.

And if God was forsaking his promises to Israel, maybe he would forsake us as well.

So in Romans 9, 10, and 11, Paul makes the case that God has not forsaken Israel as an illustration that God will not forsake us.

Let's now join Pastor John for our study in Romans chapter 9.

Israel, verse 4 tells us, as we consider the gifts of God to Israel, they were adopted into the family.

They had the glory, the Kabad, which means literally the weight, the substance, the heaviness.
