Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible,

chapter by chapter, book by book.

In our beginning studies in the Book of Romans, we have seen that Paul is making the case that everyone

is guilty of sin and needs a Savior. In Chapter 1, Paul made the case that the unrighteous are guilty

and without excuse. We are now studying through Romans Chapter 2, where we see that Paul is also

making the case that the self-righteous are guilty and without excuse.

As we join our teaching in progress today, Paul is talking about the works that we do and what this means.

With the explanation, here now is Pastor John.

Be not deceived, Paul would say, God is not mocked.

Whatever a man sows, that shall he reap.

And so Paul hears pleading with the self-righteous, the moralist, the super pious, the falsely religious.

Watch out, because you're storing up for yourself some real problems that are going to come bursting into your life and damn you eternally unless you give your heart and life to Jesus Christ and acknowledge your need for his Savior.

For God will render verse 6 every man according to his deeds.
