Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, book by book.

Here on Searchlight, we have recently been studying through the Book of Romans.

In these first teachings,

we are learning just how sinful we are. Now, this may not sound like much fun, but we need to understand our spiritual darkness so that we understand our need for Jesus, the light of the world.

We have previously learned about the darkness of the pagan,

that is, the unrighteous. Now in chapter two, we are learning about the darkness of the self-righteous.

Let's now join Pastor John for our teaching and see what the Lord wants to speak to us today

about being self-righteous.

Behold thou art called a Jew, verse 17, you rest in the law, you make your boast in God,

you religious person, and you know His will and you approve the things that are more excellent

being instructed out of the law. Yes, we know what is right and we know the things

that are excellent. We have the law. And they were boasting in that. And you are confident,

verse 19, that you thyself are to guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,
