section of the Bible. All right we're in Romans chapter 14. Romans chapter 14 and today we're in

verses 18 through 23, Lord willing, and so I want you to take your Bible. I want to begin by reading this.

The title of today's lesson is when rights are wrong. So beginning in verse 18 the Apostle Paul writes,

for he who in this way serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men.

So then, let us pursue the things which make for peace

in the building up of one another.

Do not tear down the work of God. and the building up of one another.

Do not tear down the work of God for the sake of food.

All things indeed are clean, but they are evil for the man who eats and gives offense. It is good not to eat or to drink wine, or to do

anything by which your brother stumbles. the faith which you have has your own conviction before God.

Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves.

But he who doubts is condemned if he eats,

because his eating is not from faith,

and whatever is not from faith and whatever is not from faith is sin. So this passage is

is all about how the stronger brother should handle the liberties that he has in Christ.

I'm sure here this morning we have nothing but stronger brothers, so no weaker brothers at least at this table.

So this is very much directed to us.
