Welcome to the Eric Matax's show. I'm the announcer and I've known Eric since he was a big nobody. In fact, I'm one of the people he stepped on as he climbed the ladder of success. And now my former friend Eric Matax's.

0:23.0

Thanks Todd. You're the best former friend I've never had really and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. Hey folks, this is an important.

0:31.0

Hour despite me goofing around with Todd. We're talking further with Robert Spencer who has written another important book. It's called the history of G.H.D. from Muhammad to ISIS. Very important. And I want to say to you Robert Spencer.

0:51.0

Congratulations on the book and welcome again to the program. Thanks very much Eric. This is a tremendously important subject. Alas.

0:59.0

There are two alases. Alas because it's something we're forced to deal with in our culture today when you and I were kids we could have ignored it effectively speaking.

1:11.0

And Alas it is important because most Americans are dramatically ignorant of the subject and I include myself in that group. It's amazing to me that after the 1979 revolution in Iran and then after 2001 in the terror attacks here you know yards from where we're sitting.

1:38.0

But Americans could still be so dramatically ignorant and again I include myself in that group. How what what do you account for that? How do you account for that?

1:47.0

There is a concerted campaign to misinform Americans about this issue. And it is being conducted by a variety of forces. This is not some crazy conspiracy theory. It's right out in the open.

2:01.0

The news is there is a lot of facts. I would like to say that it's very important for me to show that of course right after 911 George W. Bush went to the mosque in Washington DC and said Islam is a religion of peace.

2:10.0

And it's been pretty much the position of the Republican party establishment as well as of the Democrats ever since then that Islam is fundamentally a peaceful religion whose presence should be encouraged in the United States.

2:22.0

And that those who think that there is a problem of terrorism within Islam are racists and bigots and Islamophones.

2:29.0

And me. No, it's so fascinating because look, I have had friends that are Muslims who are nothing like this. But what you're saying and what I believe is that foundationally this is a dramatically different religion than Christianity.

2:47.0

And you know, because you and I grew up in the world of, you know, the three great world religions, so the four great world like they're all wonderful. And you think, wait a second.

2:56.0

That can't be true, right? I mean, we can be respectful to each other. But we talk as though, and what's the difference? We all believe in God.

3:04.0

It kind of like Eisenhower said you said it in the previous hour. I mean, you know, just this idea that we're all believing something and it's great and whatever.

3:10.0

And it's great to have beliefs, you know, which is so banal and incredibly stupid because the question is, what are those beliefs? Are the beliefs that I should, you know, stab people in the face or I should love them?

3:21.0

What are the, what are the beliefs that what are the transcendent, transcendent beliefs? And the case that you have have made very dramatically and very powerfully is that Islam is not what George W. Bush hoped rather naively that it, that it was that it's something entirely different and that we Americans are, we're especially naïve.

3:48.0

I mean, we are almost famously, infamously naive. There's something about America. It's our best quality and our worst quality, right? Is that we have this kind of open-hearted view. There's something beautiful about that. And yet, you know, the Bible says be innocent as doves, but it also says be wise as serpents.

4:08.0

I think sometimes we forget the wise as serpents part and that's at the heart of this, you know, I was going to say misunderstanding. It's way worse than I'm just understanding. It's a, it's a, it's a grotesque ellipses in, in our view of the world today.

4:23.0

Yeah, it is. Look, the Quran is not a holy book like other holy books. It says kill them wherever you find them three times. And it says to white wage war against the Jews and Christians until they are subjugated.

4:37.0

And denied basic rights under the rule of the Muslims. It says when you meet the unbelievers, strike the next. It says if you fear disobedience from a woman, beat her. And all these things people will say, oh, but there's violent passages in the Bible too. Well, this is one of the reasons why I wrote this book because I show that it's not just a matter of some passages over in the corner that people have forgotten about that nobody pays attention to today or that interpretative traditions have defanged.

5:05.0

It is these passages in the Quran have been acted upon by Muslims throughout history wherever they have gone. And the definitive proof from Islamic sources in many cases is in this book.
