Hey everybody Dylan here. Welcome to day two of road trip week. Today we're headed to

Utah but we are not going to Zion or Arches National Park. Instead we are pulling off the road to the small city of Vernal,

where we're going to meet the kind of person that you kind of only really encounter

on a road trip, the kind of person who lives in your mind for years.

Okay, buckle in. We are headed to Utah. Here's the episode. A lot of us have probably been to national parks and monuments, but not a lot of us have experienced

them like Randy Fulbright has.

Randy spends days at a time, all alone, hiking through the backcountry wilderness of Dinosaur National

Monument in Northeastern Utah.

He's been caught in extreme weather.

I was standing on top of this one day and Lightning Bolt hit right here.

No.

Big storm came rolling over the top of me and before I knew it it was there.

He's had animal encounters. Well walked right into a big bear eating berries. He was

snapping his jaws and woofing at me and I was backing up

reaching for bear spray. And spooky sightings. I opened the fly on the tent and

looked down in the sand and there were lion tracks over my boot prints when I

probably snoring so bad he probably thought something was dying down there. Can't

investigate.
