Hi my name is Yana and I'm a third culture kid.

Growing up in the 80s and 90s, we lived in five different countries, did a lot of traveling

and took a lot of road trips.

The weirdest thing that ever happened on any of those road trips was when we were living in Turkey

and were on our way to Austria.

We were in Bulgaria, it was in the middle of the night, we were trying to find our hotel, and

my dad saw this big creature in the dark ahead of us on the road.

My dad slowed down, saw that the animal was crossing the road,

so he sped back up, didn't realize that the animal had stopped, he sped back up, didn't realize that the animal had stopped,

dead in its tracks, and had started going in the opposite direction.

And so when the animal crossed back in front of us, we smashed into it full speed.

What we then realized was that it was a giant wild boar.

We were sitting there with a broken radiator scared out of our wits in the middle of the night in an unfamiliar place when a car stopped and we thought,

hoorah, they have come to help us, but instead they picked up rocks, threw them at the

board to kill it, stuffed it in their car and drove off. We were left there in the

dark all by ourselves and we had to slowly make our way to the hotel and we spent the next day there watching America's funniest home videos in Bulgarian on the TV in the hotel waiting for the car to be fixed and off we went

onto our Austrian adventure. Hey Atlas, long time, first time and all that. Listen, I've got a road trip story. Back in 2015, my wife and I got a job at a rainy ranch in Alaska. We always want to travel there.

We live in Kentucky, so we had to drive there. The plan was to drive the Alcan and stop that roadside attractions along the way.
