Summary

On April 6, 1996, a 48-year-old New Jersey man was attacked in his apartment by two unknown assailants, and then disappeared without a trace. Soon after, it became apparent to police that his wife of more than 25 years, Rita Gluzman, was the mastermind behind the crime. But where was the body?

So let's get started here with a little tale recommended by a listener.

One that makes you think twice about whether or not Lizzy Borden was the only female killer to ever employ the brutality of wielding an axe. Of course, I'm talking about the atrocious act of April 6, 1996, committed by Rita Glusman, an upper saddle New Jersey resident who emigrated

from the Soviet Union years earlier along with her husband, Yachoff.

Supposedly, while Rita was a domineering woman whose presence took a toll

in her husband that became an increasingly heavier burden with time, she was also so dedicated

to him that she underwent an 18-day hunger strike in an effort to get him out of the Soviet Union.

So when the time came for Yakuff to say he couldn't take it anymore in 1995 and was leaving her after 25 years, he compounded

the insult by throwing in the fact it was to be with someone else, a scientist who lived in Israel.

Rita then became enraged, and divorce proceedings continued until the spring of 1996.

That's when Rita employed the services of a man who would later become the chief

witness at the trial, Vladimir Zelenin, and supposedly he was attempting to find employment and legal residents for which Rita said she could help.

That is, if he did something for her.

So on April 6, 1996, Rita and Vladimir, each armed with an axe, Storm Jakov's apartment,

and brutally murder the defenseless man. At that point Rita decides it's a great idea to

dismember the body and dispose of it in garbage bags. So good old Vladimir takes

the corpse into the bathroom and chops it to pieces in the bathtub.
