I am Jolenta Greenberg, a comedian and a culture critic, and I will be your reality TV dramaturg.

What's a drama turg?

And am I saying turd? No, it's turg with a G. A dramaturg is a researcher that gives background information on theatrical productions and helps put dramatic works of art into cultural

context. And a reality TV dramaturg does the same thing, but for reality TV, because it's art too.

It's storytelling, just like every other form of entertainment and the characters we see

on reality TV, they aren't trashier or less complex than any other characters in any other

form of entertainment.

There's just more hair extensions and filler and unexplained wealth on reality TV. Today, we are continuing our journey

through different archetypes, and archetypes are sort of character blueprints that describe

different types of characters that we come across again and again in all types of storytelling.

And the archetype I'm covering this week is a traditionally male-coded archetype. But,

reminder, this is a progressive feminist podcast. And we don't believe that archetypes need to be
